Jul 7, 2008: boring boring boring boring boring boring boring at Dog Eared Books

boring boring boring boring boring boring boring
Monday, July 7 - 8:00PM

boring boring boring boring boring boring boring

a boring book signing and a boring reading with Zach Plague.

"Designed to death, Plague’s seething contempt for banal art gives this satire an edge" —Publisher's Weekly
"Alienation devices(!) Ridiculous(!) Cute(!) Antic(!) Anticlimactic(!) Clever(!) Fairly interesting(!) Mostly well written(!) Occasionally funny(!) Sex(!) Drugs(!) Stale satire(!) Art world nonsense(!) —Chicago Reader (exclamation points added for emphasis)
"Hahaha! A really innovative book."—NPR
“This book gleans the generational malaise of its characters, floundering and beautiful. It manages to amble along the surface of their lives falling here and there into pockets of private desires and loneliness. These are the stunning moments, buttressed by deft absurdity, hilarious antics and wordplay. boring boring boring boring boring boring boring is fantastic..”—Ryan Markel, Author of 101 Reasons Not To Have Children.

Also reading will be
Stephen Elliot
the author of four novels, including the critically acclaimed Happy Baby, and the editor of the anthologies Politically Inspired, Sex For America and Where to Invade Next.
and
Tony Tulathimutte
2008 O'Henry Prize winner with this caveat:
"The version of my short story that appears in the O. Henry Prize Stories 2008 is not the version I submitted to them, nor is it the version that was selected for the prize after it appeared in The Threepenny Review."

Jul 6, 2008: Gaucho- Free Live Gypsy Jazz at Red Hill Books at Red Hill Books

Sunday, July 6 - 3:00PM
Always on A Sunday: Gaucho

Gaucho began as a Gypsy Jazz trio in 2002 but has now grown to the size of a sextet and has brought the styles of Klezmer, Brazialian Choros, Swing, New Orleans and Roots styles as well as modern day melodies of relevance and the occasional irreverence. Gaucho is guitar virtuosos Dave Ricketts and Michael Groh, a standup guy and bass player Ari Munkres, the righteous Rob Reich on accordion, and the well-read reed man Ralph Carney on horns. Wander no further than Red Hill on Sunday.
