What are the topics of Web.Start?

Web.Start lasts for two days, which are divided into a Tech.Day and a Biz.Day.

The focus of Tech.Day is, as the name implies, various technology topics related to Web development. More specifically, this includes topics on server-side Web development, client-side Web development, mobile technologies and other related issues.

The Biz.Day focuses on business side of the Web — from more general e-business, marketing and managerial topics to especially issues related to starting a Web business, such as business planning, investments etc.

Besides the main presentatios and keynotes, Web.Start also hosts brief, 10-minutes presentations from interesting Web startups from the region, and there are also separate rooms available for more private ad-hoc meetings.

This conference primarily caters to companies and individuals that participate — or intend to participate — in production or funding of Web projects in the region, regardless of their local or global market focus.

Videos of the 2007/8 festivals are now up on the Picnic website if you want to get a feel for it. The only clouds on the horizon are their constant drive for growth and the fact that very little is free anymore. Money is going to be extremely tight this year, so I personally hope it doesn't try to become a film festival, but keeps its focus on emerging media. I also hope they put more effort into improving the navigation of the Picnic website. It becomes very chaotic around the time of the conferences. Agree?
