Snoopy as the World War I Flying Ace, pairs 42 pieces of art by Charles Schulz with historical objects drawn from the Museums World War I aviation collection.Snoopy as the World War I Flying Ace presents Charles M. Schulzs lovable beagle, Snoopy, as his alter ego, the Flying Ace. The exhibit showcases 42 of Snoopys most exciting adventures in his transformed doghouse now a Sopwith Camel airplane from the time he faced a deadly bout of influenza to sparring with the Flying Aces archenemy, the Red Baron.Memorable for both children and adults, the exhibit expands beyond a pop culture icon to include vintage objects related to World War I aviation. These include a Prussian mounted officers ulanka (tunic) like the one worn by the real Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen, snapshots of von Richthofen, a German airplane fabric section from a Fokker D7 rudder, airman insignia, flying goggles and a British Lewis .303 caliber aircraft machine gun produced for the French. Additional cartoons and original artwork published during World War I are also showcased in this display. Schulz served as a sergeant in the United States Army and had always wanted to draw adventure comic strips but had been told to stick with what he did best funny kids. However, after 15 years as a cartoonist, on Sunday, October 10, 1965, he finally had the opportunity to create his hero: Snoopy, the World War I Flying Ace.Snoopy as the World War I Flying Ace is organized by the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center and toured by ExhibitUSA, the national touring division of Mid-America Arts Alliance, a non-profit regional arts organization based in Kansas City, Missouri.Admission to the exhibition, which is located in the Museums permanent gallery, is included with admission to the National World War I Museum. Dripping or flinging paint across a canvas; letting the progressive decay of organic materials determine a composition; flipping coins to compose musical scores--these are some of the processes used to incorporate chance as a decisive factor in the creation of an artwork. Beginning in the early twentieth century and moving into the1970s, Chance Aesthetics addresses chance as a key compositional principle in modern art. The exhibition features more than sixty artworks by over forty avant-garde artists from Europe and the United States, including work by Jean (Hans) Arp, George Brecht, John Cage, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Ellsworth Kelly, Alison Knowles, Francois Morellet, Robert Morris, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Dieter Roth, Niki de Saint Phalle, and Yves Tanguy, among many others.The central paradox resting at the heart of the exhibition involves the tension between chance and choice. Though many artists throughout the twentieth century have championed the creative possibilities of the arbitrary in the creation of works of art--both as an attack on reason and logic and as a counterpoint to officially sanctioned aesthetic tastes--artistic subjectivity is never truly effaced. Undertaken as a stimulus to new forms of artistic invention, the deliberate implementation of chance advanced a challenge to longstanding assumptions concerning what might constitute a work of art and the role of the artist as autonomous creator.Chance Aesthetics explores these concepts in three thematic sections: "Collage, Assemblage, and the Found Object," "Automatism," and "Games and Systems of Random Ordering." Each section addresses central avant-garde strategies employed to subvert or rework traditional forms of artistic expression. These categories also provide a basic framework through which individual movements--Dada, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, Nouveau Realisme, Fluxus, and others--are traversed in order to compare and contrast chance-based strategies and objectives across diverse historical and cultural contexts.Chance Aesthetics is curated by Meredith Malone. Gary Cooper was the only person that Alvin York trusted to portray his story from the Great War. York insisted that if Cooper was not part of the movie he would not authorize the film. Coopers 1941 portrayal of the World War I hero is considered one of his finest and for his exceptional work he was awarded his first Academy Award(R) for Best Actor.Maria Cooper Janis, the daughter of Gary Cooper, loaned the National World War I Museum her fathers Oscar for the special exhibit. It is very meaningful to me to have the story of Sgt. York as an American hero be honored at this wonderful Museum dedicated to all the heroes of World War I. To be able to share the symbol of excellence embodied in the Oscar awarded to my father Gary Cooper for his screen portrayal of Alvin York, makes me very proud indeed. Today, the bluffs serve as a habitat for spectacled bears, grizzly bears and polar bears. Our keepers stimulate these bears with enrichment activities like big beach balls for our polar bears or by hiding fruit and special snacks in the bluffs for the bears to find using their senses.

Since joining Immature as a young adolescent in the early '90s, Houston has crossed over into television as a recurring cast member of Sister Sister, and he has taken on production duties with some of his IMx mates (as Platinum Status) for B2K and Destiny's Child. Along with producing some of his own material on MH, he enlisted the services of Kowan "Q" Paul, Kenny Whitehead, and Platinum Status member Troy Taylor. Naked followed in April of 2005. During the interim, he appeared in Fat Albert, continued songwriting and production work (Omarion, N2U, O'Ryan, Young Rome), and popped up on a mix of 50 Cent's "Candy Shop."
