Susan pui san lok is a film maker, translator, archivist, and borrower, based at Middlesex University. She has exhibited recently at the Hong Kong Arts Centre Hong Kong, MOMA Shanghai, Beaconsfield Contemporary Arts London, Chinese Arts Centre Manchester, and her multi-screen installation 'Faster-Higher' was exhibited at the BFI Southbank Gallery in 2009.

Sally O’Reilly is a cultural critic for Time Out, Art Monthly, and Modern Painters, a writer of catalogue essays, an events organizer, Founder of Implicasphere, and author of The Body in Contemporary Art (Thames & Hudson)

Uriel Orlow is a Swiss multi-media installer, historian, and narrator of the impossible, based in London and working at University of Westminster. With recent shows in London, Vienna, Lisbon, Bern, Zurich, Palm Beach Florida, and China, he has exhibitions upcoming at Seventeen Gallery, Laure Genillard, and Museum Nachum Gutman, Tel Aviv.

Niru Ratnam is Director of Aicon Gallery, a space dedicated to South East Asian art and visual culture, Founder of STORE Gallery in Hoxton, and a writer, art historian, and broadcaster.

IP Quest, play the IP game (Module 2)
When: 15.12.09 at 2-5pm (refreshments provided)

We are inviting creative business owners and sole traders to play a brand new game and have fun while using the IP knowledge they have gained in module 1. Ben Williams (patent attorney) will lead you through his board game, IP Quest, in which players direct fictional companies around the board making sales. Various IP-related challenges await them, which they must solve in order to win the game. Places are limited to 15 players. For Christmas, once again we are turning our event over to you. If you are a gizmo-geek, we will give you 5 minutes to convince members of the BCS and invited judges (not to mention the elves) why your favourite gadget of 2009 should be at the top of their Christmas list. Else, if you are one of the bemused, come along and be part of the audience … and boo, hiss or cheer!

Judges

Spencer Kelly from BBC Click will be judging alongside Richard Banks, Interaction Designer at Microsoft Research, who will close with some thoughts on gadgets to watch out for in 2010 & beyond.

The best gadget and the best presenter will win a rather scrumptious prize (or at least a better one than last year)!

Rules for pitchers

There are some simple rules for pitchers:

- The gadget must be a tangible device or a service with a tangible element.

- The gadget has to be IT-related.

- The gadget can be home-made or a mod of a paid-for gadget. However, you can only talk about such a gadget if you are a lone inventor or in a startup of ~ 5 people.

- The gadget has to have been released/created in 2009 (roughly) or be a future prototype/design.

- You have to own the gadget, or if presenting a futuristic gadget, be able to assert your creative rights.

- If you cannot bring the gadget on the night you must bring a picture/video of you with it.

Following the event network with fellow gizmo-geeks, tech-enthusiasts and idea-evangelists plus half-hearted afficionados, over a mince pie, some turkey sandwiches and mulled wine!
