The Oregon Jewish Museum's extensive archives of historical photographs (both present and familiar and long gone locations in and around Portland and the state) serve as a memory bank from which invited artists will choose a sampling. The exhibition will feature the artists' photographic responses to the original works -juxtaposing "past" and "present" images as a unit.

At one past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, from little villages and towns like Romanèche-Thorins, over a million cases of Beaujolais Nouveau begin their journey through a sleeping France to Paris for immediate shipment to all parts of the world. Banners proclaim the good news: Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! "The New Beaujolais has arrived!" One of the most frivolous and animated rituals in the wine world has begun.

By the time it is over, over 65 million bottles, nearly half of the region's total annual production, will be distributed and drunk around the world. It has become a worldwide race to be the first to serve to this new wine of the harvest. In doing so, it has been carried by motorcycle, balloon, truck, helicopter, Concorde jet, elephant, runners and rickshaws to get it to its final destination. It is amazing to realize that just weeks before this wine was a cluster of grapes in a growers vineyard. But by an expeditious harvest, a rapid fermentation, and a speedy bottling, all is ready at the midnight hour. By French law, Beaujolais Nouveau is to be released no earlier than the third Thursday of November.

He’s been featured in magazines such as Guitar Player, Jazziz, Acoustic Guitar, Jazz Improv, and 20th Century Guitar. He’s done many live radio performance broadcasts. Art Resnick is a pianist/composer that has toured extensively in the United States and Europe. He has recorded
albums with his own groups and original music as well as with several internationally known jazz artists such as
Freddie Hubbard, George Coleman, Gary Bartz, Papa John Creach, Bobby Shew, Nat Adderly, and many more.
Currently Art is writing orchestral music as well as playing and writing jazz. Aside from his own recordings he has played on 'We Remember Cannonball' with the Nat Adderly quintet, and 'Two Notorious Trumpets' with Bobby Shew where his compositions and arrangements were featured.

Nov 17, 2009: Tigard Library Hosts Holocaust Remembrance at Tigard Public Library

On Tuesday, November 17 at 7 p.m. the Tigard Library will host Peter Wigmore, who will describe his mother’s experiences in Auschwitz, where she was subject to the brutal experiments of Dr. Josef Mengele. The library is presenting the program in observance of the 71st anniversary of Kristallnacht, which occurred on November 9 and 10, 1938.

Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, was a coordinated assault by Nazi forces on German and Austrian Jewish citizens. As a result, 30,000 people were sent to concentration camps. Many historians consider Kristallnacht as the first clear portent of the future Holocaust.

The Tigard Public Library will air the 113th Civil War football game between the University of Oregon and Oregon State on Thursday, Dec. 3, on its large screen in the Community Room. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

During halftime, fans can enter the Civil War Trivia Challenge. A winner and two runners-up will receive a gift certificate from a local sporting goods store.
