It’s our philosophy that someone working at a Fortune 500 company has as much to learn from a small Mom & Pop business about the application of social media, as well as the other way around. If you are open-minded and willing to go outside your comfort zone, then this conference is for you. Washington D.C. native Michael Chabon has wowed the literary world almost since he left the cradle. The novel he wrote for his Masters Thesis at U.C. Irvine, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, became a New York Times bestseller. His second book, The Wonder Boys, became a feature film starring Michael Douglas and Toby Maguire. The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2001. In 2007 he released the wildly popular novel The Yiddish Policeman's Union. He has appeared before audiences in nine countries and lectures widely on what is clearly his favorite topic, the art and craft of fiction.

Join us for this special opportunity to hear Acharya (teacher) Adam Lobel at our weekly Open House. The evening will begin with guided meditation for everyone, so come and be prepared to encounter your mind and heart (enlightenment not necessarily guaranteed, but then again, you never know).

Acharya Adam Lobel is a teacher in the Shambhala tradition, a Buddhist minister, and a scholar of philosophy and religion. He was co-editor of the Sakyong’s book Turning the Mind into an Ally, and leads meditation workshops, courses on Buddhist philosophy and the social vision of Shambhala. Adam is also the Acharya for the Mipham Academy, an advanced, annual intensive for Buddhist philosophical and contemplative studies at Karme Choling, Vermont. He teaches meditation to youths within the prison system and a mental health institution. He was named an Acharya in 2004 and completed a Masters of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School, where he is helping to establish a track for Buddhist ministers and chaplains. His research focuses on philosophy, phenomenology, meditation, and the Great Perfection tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Adam has a seven-year-old son, Javin, who is a Jedi Knight in training and recently moved to Pittsburgh, PA.

The film will be shown on Monday, December 14 at 7:30 pm at the beautifully restored Hollywood Theatre located at 1449 Potomac Avenue in Dormont, PA.

Filmed and edited in a mere two weeks as part of the Twitter #2wkfilm challenge, BLANC DE BLANC screens for the first time in the U.S. after an initial booking at the Portobello Film Festival in London.

BLANC DE BLANC explores the mysterious circumstances that surround a man who arrives, suddenly, in Pittsburgh and falls for a woman he meets on the street. Only, his past life isn't willing to let him go without a fight.

BLANC DE BLANC features performances by Jason Kirsch and Rachel Shaw, and an original score from acclaimed musician Jerome Wincek.

Also screening will be a short film to be announced as well as trailers promoting like-minded indie films from around the country.

Q & A and a BYOB reception inside the theater will follow immediately after the screening.
