Since it was first run in 1997, Classic Adelaide Rally has become 'one of the world's great rallies'.

Classic Adelaide Rally engages the entire State as it brings the sight, sound and colour of a bygone era to the doorstep of more than a million people living within a 100km radius of Adelaide. A unique feature of the event, which has made it a favourite with the participants, is its 'hub' format.

Each day's course starts in the heart of the city and travels through some of South Australia's premier wine districts and tourism hot spots, enjoying a warm welcome from spectators along the route. The rally returns each night to the Adelaide CBD allowing entrants to enjoy the best fine dining and hospitality made famous during the Adelaide Grand Prix era.

The rally is conducted over a number of special stages utilising sealed public roads. The event will cover a total distance of approximately 1000 kilometres, including transport stages, over five days. The event includes approximately 32 special stages, the total length being around 250 kilometres. These special stages are conducted over roads temporarily closed to the public, although spectators are permitted in designated areas. Competing cars pass through the special stages at thirty second time intervals. When travelling from one special stage to another (referred to as being in a transport stage) competitors are required to observe all road traffic rules and behave at all times as would a normal road user.

The participation of 'regular' guests, including Murray Walker, Sir Jack Brabham, Vern Schuppan and Stirling Moss in the Classic Adelaide , confirms the status of this international motoring event, as 'one of the world's great rallies'.

Directions:

From the South: GSP to exit 127 and follow RTE 9 for a very short time and take the exit for CR-501 towards Fords. This is St. Georges Ave. Go under the Parkway and at the 3rd block on the right you will see the Liberty Tavern Restaurant on the corner of Liberty St.

From the North: GSP to exit 129 towards RTE 9. Follow the signs for CR-501 to Fords. This puts you on St. Georges Ave. At the 3rd block on the right you will see the Liberty Tavern Restaurant on the corner of Liberty St.

From the North: Turnpike South to exit 9. RTE 18 South for 5 miles and take a Right on RTE 527 South towards Englishtown. The RaceZone is under a mile ahead on your left.

From the South: GSP to the Cheesequake Service Area (mile 123), cut through the Commuter Parking Lot at the center/North side of the service area, and make a Left on CR-615 (BORDENTOWN RD), pass RTE 9, then make a Right on ERNSTON RD (CR-673) and a Left on WASHINGTON RD (RTE 535). Go for 2 mi and you'll see The Stadium on your right.

From the North: GSP TO EXIT 124 towards South Amboy and make a Left on MAIN ST and then an immediate Right on WASHINGTON RD (RTE 535). Go for just over 3 miles and you'll see The Stadium on your right.
