The following also applies:

- BYOC (Bring Your Own Controller) Format. If the controller legitimately works on the X-Box 360, it is eligible, but no macro recording, turbo, or other "special" functionality will be allowed. Default X-Box 360 Controllers will be provided to anyone who does not bring their own.

- All characters will be available for selection. There will be some restrictions in place to prevent known glitches / infinite combo attacks between certain characters.

- A match will consist of best 2 out of 3 rounds, in a best 2 out of 3 games format.

- Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three places at a rate proportional to the number of attendees. Prize money will be awarded to finishers at a 6/3/1 split. The total, minimum prize pool will be $300. 1st place will be awarded $180 minimum, 2nd place will receive $90 minimum, and third place will get $30 minimum. Entry fees will be used to cover tournament expenses, but if all of those are covered... any remaining fees will go into the prize pool as well!

All money generated through donations, sponsorships, advertisements, and entry fees will be used for the tournament expenses, site maintenance, and prizes. This is a not-for-profit event.

You can register for the tournament at www.soofoogamers.com. This cements your entry fee at $10. Anyone entering the tournament the day-of will be charged $15, so register early! This event will be open to the general public as an all ages event. There will be a few machines set up for casual and friendly play. Bring your friends!

Mapping parties are social events where experienced and new mappers can meet to share and learn more about the project. The event is open to everyone, from open source enthusiasts, cyclists, GIS professionals, geocachers, and beyond.

GPS units available for attendees to use throughout the day. The first hour will be dedicated to introducing OSM and learning how to use the GPS units. The second and third hour will be time for mapping (by foots, car or bike), and the last two hours will be focused on using the OSM editors. Feel free to attend for the entire day (or the whole weekend) or stop by for one of the mini-tutorials.

These and other little-known facts and places are included in a free historical walking tour of Union City's old Alvarado district.

Although the city was incorporated 50 years ago when the towns of Alvarado and Decoto united, Alvarado's history goes back another 100 years. It was created by the merging of three even smaller communities known as Union City, New Haven and Alvarado.

Tim Swenson, chairman of Union City's 50th Anniversary Historical Committee, will lead participants down Smith Street, Union City Boulevard and Horner Street. Stopping at historic buildings along the way, he will share the fascinating stories of the 1940s Alvarado fire house, the site where Alvarado Grammar School was built in 1878, the location of Chinatown gambling dens and a bordello, the 1862 site of St. Anne's Church, the marker where Alameda County's first courthouse was located in 1853, and buildings that housed saloons, cobblers and a blacksmith shop.

A tour booklet is also included in this trip through local history, which begins at the Union City Historical Museum.

The evening's program includes a display of paintings by local artist June Krinsky-Rudder, world music by Marie Alessandro & Miguel Vargas, dancing, refreshments, and a performance by the Border Street Dancers. Mayor Menino will stop by for a "Meet and Greet."

The 80 Border Street Cultural Exchange Center will put a spotlight on East Boston's rich cultural heritage and diverse community at their Atlantic Works Building waterfront location overlooking the inner Boston Harbor and the bridge over the Mystic River.

"Spending time in East Boston is like traveling somewhere exotic without a passport," said Pj Schott, Sample the Arts' organizer. "I have lived all over the world and rarely have I seen such a vibrant mix of great food, fascinating people, and intriguing art bordered by historic settings, a magnificent waterfront, and stunning views of a downtown city skyline."

80 Border Street Cultural Exchange Center is a non-profit performing, visual and literary arts center dedicated to the educational and cultural needs of East Boston and surrounding communities, as well as visitors to the Boston area. The center supports a meaningful exchange of ideas, a chance to discover, to create, to learn, to be inspired and to inspire others.

The Gathering in the Park is as diverse as Union City itself.

Entertainment will range from hot Latin to cool blues, including:

The food court will serve a variety of delicious and diverse cuisines from across the globe. Those purchasing $10 "Taste of the World" passports will be in for a special treat - sampling chefs' specialties from local restaurants and then voting for their favorite food.

The annual summer Kid's Carnival, hosted by Union City Leisure Services, will include a bounce house, cotton candy, and 30 midway games. The new playground, accessible to the disabled, offers a miniature version of the Golden Gate Bridge and other Northern California landmarks.

Artisans, craftspeople and other merchants will sell unique and unusual wares at the international marketplace.

The Health Fair Pavilion will provide free screenings for blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure. Men's and women's health information and tips on healthy eating and active lifestyles will be provided in languages such as Spanish, Taglog, Punjabi and Hindi. Hosted by volunteers and Kaiser Permanente, Washington Hospital, Sahaita, American College of Nurses, Black Nurses Association, and others.

Don't miss this fun-filled, all-day festival - the last major Union City 50th Anniversary activity of the summer.

The day consists of sessions proposed by attendees and the schedule is created on site the morning of the event. BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn from each other in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT CAMP:

The day will start at 8am with an hour of socializing over coffee and pastries. At 9am sharp we will give directions on how to propose a topic and then we will create a schedule. We will be harvesting the minds and expertise of all the people in the room to come up with topics pertinent to blogging about the East bay. If you’d like to lead a session you’re going to want to speak up with your topic idea at 9am, when the schedule is being created.

If you are not so inclined to arrive with electronic note-taking items a simple notebook and pen will do. Lots of business cards. This is a great networking opportunity. You can get a quick turnaround from Zazzle.com, Moocards or PSPrint if you are in need of cards.
