Jan 21, 2010: Seattle Networking Fundamentals: 2-Day Hands-On Workshop at Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites SeaTac

Computer Networking Fundamentals Training: Two-Day Hands-On Seminar

Presented by soundtraining.net and taught by veteran I.T. trainer, writer, and speaker Don R. Crawley.

Two information-packed days of hands-on networking basics, taught by an experienced technical trainer, using a live in-classroom network. You'll learn about cabling, network protocols (including a close-up look at TCP/IP), network devices like hubs, switches, routers, firewalls, repeaters, gateways, and more. You'll actually administer a Windows server and a Linux server. We'll show you how to set up peer-to-peer networking and server-based networking and you'll learn how to choose the right networking model for your situation. You'll see the critical success factors in setting up a wireless network, including the often-overlooked security features. You'll learn how to create a secure network and avoid common network security mistakes. This is the perfect computer training and network training class for new network administrators, small business owners, home networkers, or anyone who needs to get hands-on experience in computer networking. This two-day hands-on networking fundamentals training workshop will get you up to speed in a hurry with practical tools and techniques you can put to use right away to make your network run faster and more securely with fewer problems.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of soundtraining.net's Computer Networking Fundamentals training seminar, you'll...

-Identify and describe the various components of a computer network
-Explain how the Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) model works to simplify networking
-Identify and compare the different networking topologies
-Select appropriate cabling and connection options
-Configure a wireless network using basic security features
-Compare and contrast peer-to-peer networking with the client-server model
-Identify the hardware and software components that make up a local area network (LAN)
-Identify the hardware and software components that make up a wide area network (WAN)
-Understand and configure the TCP/IP protocol including planning and implementation
-Understand the concept of resource sharing and apply it in your network
-Learn network troubleshooting tools and procedures you can use right away

Jan 4, 2010: TECS Week: TCS Excellence in Computer Science Conference at Tata Research Development and Design Center (TRDDC)

The 2010 TCS Excellence in Computer Sciences Week (TECS Week) will be held from January 4-8, 2010 at the Tata Research Development and Design Centre in Pune, India. TECS Week is organized to bring the highest quality education in Computer Science to the most gifted young computer scientists in developing countries. For details of TECS Week’10, please visit: TECSWeek'10

The topic for TECS Week’10 is:

Formal methods in software verification, testing and debugging

In recent years, we have witnessed dramatic increase in the application of model checking techniques to software verification and validation including testing; these techniques, for instance, have been used to prove properties of many software systems including Windows drivers and Linux kernel. This course will introduce participants to both the foundations and the applications of model checking. The foundations will include algorithms and techniques to check for satisfiability of propositional and predicate formulas. The application discussion will cover computer aided verification, automated software testing using static and dynamic analysis, and security testing among others.

We have an excellent set of speakers for this event from across the globe. The speakers include:
Patrice Godefroid (Microsoft Research, Redmond, USA)
Daniel Kröning (Oxford University, UK)
Rupak Majumdar (University of California, Los Angeles, USA)
Natarajan Shankar (SRI International, USA)

We invite you and others in your organization to participate in TECS Week’10. TECS Week is targeted at young postgraduate and research students, faculty and young professionals from research institutions and industry. There are no fees for participation in TECS Week.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Deadline for submitting an on-line application for participation in TECS Week : November 15th, 2009
Notification of acceptance to the event : December 1st, 2009
