Daytrippers was founded in 2003 to help children with disabilities, life limiting or terminal illnesses enjoy amazing experiences.To date they have helped over 17,500 children by either funding group daytrips or hosting their own larger scale events, encouraging children and their parents to experience new and exciting environments whilst making friends.

Daytrippers continuously growing list of events include: The UK’s largest pan-disability football tournament, co-hosting London Zoo’s Annual Special Children’s Day, Oscar film premieres showcasing the children’s own films and animations, multi sensory art and music workshops at Colourscape Festival and a sought after private showing of the annual Christmas Pantomime at the Lyric Theatre.

Barbara Dane's remarkable blues, jazz and folk music career spans more than 60 years. Her first concert was in 1947, sharing a folk stage with Pete Seeger. In 1959, she sang hot jazz on TV with Louis Armstrong and toured with Jack Teagarden. For a year she sang blues with Willie Dixon and Memphis Slim as her back-up, and took over Muddy Waters' band when he became ill. In 1971 she sang before tens of thousands on the Washington Mall in protest of the Vietnam War. She recorded mainstream jazz with Earl "Fatha" Hines, blues with Lightnin' Hopkins, and traditional jazz with her own band.

Big Cat and the Hypnotics, featuring lead singer Big Cat Tolefree with Allen Vega on guitar, is known throughout the West Coast music scene. They recently opened for B.B. King, and in the past, Tolefree opened for the Temptations, Jimmy McCracklin and others. In 2011 Tolefree was named "Male Blues Vocalist of the Year." Lead musician Vega plays a smokin' gun of a blues guitar, and Vega's former band, Smokin' Gun, won a Bay Area Music Battle of the Bands. Vega has opened for Bobby "Blue" Bland, Etta James, Buddy Guy, and the list goes on.

Top-hit songs and dances of the 13th and 14th centuries, and sacred and secular vocal music inspired by them.

Popular song and dance music were likely as much enjoyed during the Middle Ages as they are today. Countless visual images and written descriptions of musicians and their instruments survive from the Middle Ages. But much of their music has been lost; while many of its makers may have been virtuosic singers and players, what they sang and played was never written down.

Ensemble S.P.A.M. will perform 13th-century French, rondeaus and caroles, and motets from 13th-century France containing both sacred and secular/popular elements; secular ballades and virelais by French ars nova composers Guillaume de Machaut and Guillaume Dufay; 13th-century Italian sacred laude, caccie and ballate by the Italian composers Magister Piero and Francesco Landini, a fractal canon by Johannes Ciconia, and a saltarello contained in an anonymous Italian manuscript owned by the British Library.

BELLA's MISSION is to engage and inspire diverse audiences with the transformational power of music as a tool for bridging gaps and building relationships via guided performances of the highest standards.

BELLA strives towards its mission from multiple approaches: lectures and performances in traditional and nontraditional concert venues, chamber music salons, outreach community events and collaborations, and interactive learning through their website, links and social platforms.

The trio was founded in 2009 and has since become one of San Francisco's most exciting emerging ensembles. The members hail from Austin, Boston and NYC and have been trained at some of the world's leading conservatories and institutions, including Juilliard, Harvard, Rice and the New England and San Francisco Conservatories.

All three artists share a deep sensibility to the value and potential beauty of living artfully and the power of bringing inspirational music to the lives of others. It is this thread that ties them to their music, their audiences, and each other.

SFCA's Composer-Not-in-Residence Matt Van Brink won the annual competition in 2006. This year's winners are Katherine Saxon of UC Santa Barbara and Daniel Galbreath of the University of Wyoming.

"Back in junior high school, an instructor assigned Ray Bradbury's short story There Will Come Soft Rains, which centers on the Teasdale poem. Both story and poem have an unsettling sense of post-apocalyptic serenity. The simply-worded couplets and nature-based imagery are at odds with the direction the text ultimately goes. It creates a great deal of tension. I use some jazzier harmonies and off-kilter rhythms to underscore the blithe irony of the text, and of the natural elements in that text which are used to create the poem's didactic message."

David Henderson grew up in Hartford City, Indiana, and has degrees from the University of Michigan and the Juilliard School. In 1980 he gave his Carnegie Recital Hall solo debut as a winner of the East and West Artists competition. The New York Times stated, "An exceptionally accomplished instrumentalist with something to say, his work is poised, cultivated and expressive." In 1981 he received a first prize in saxophone from the Conservatoire de Bordeaux as a recipient of a Fulbright-ITT grant to study in France.

Since moving to San Francisco in 1988, he has played regularly with the San Francisco Symphony, including tours, recordings and television broadcasts under maestro Michael Tilson Thomas. He has also toured with the BBC Symphony under Andrew Davis and performed with the New World Symphony, the San Francisco Opera and Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet and Orchestra, and the St. Petersburg (Russia) Philharmonic. He has appeared as soloist with the Oakland/East Bay Symphony.

In 1989 he joined the San Francisco Saxophone Quartet as tenor saxophonist and keyboardist. Starting out as street musicians in downtown San Francisco, the group was discovered on the street by the president of Angel/EMI records in 1990, and has since recorded many CD's and toured most of the 50 states as well as Japan. In 2006 Mr. Henderson joined the Premiere Saxophone Quartet, artists-in-residence at San Jose State University.

He has played both on and off-Broadway while living in New York, including the original productions of Nunsense and March of the Falsettos.

Mr. Henderson currently teaches saxophone at the University of the Pacific and Stanford University.

ABOUT TALAVYA:
Globe-trotting percussion ensemble Talavya brings the Indian hand-drums tabla to the center stage, distilling its age-old spirit and practice into a high-energy, highly accessible celebration of rhythm. Composed by Pandit Divyang Vakil, the ensemble plays complex rhythmic structures with split-second perfection, gliding between meditative trance and explosive rock drum power.
