The tournament will be a 4-round Swiss System Tournament. The games will be G/30, which means each player has 30 minutes to complete all their moves.
The tournament is free and open to all levels and ages of chess players. The Van Winkle Family, Tri-State Chess Club, and the Burlington Chess Club hosts the tournament. Arnie Gatton of Keokuk is the tournament director.
Aulden Van Winkle was a supporter of the Lee County Fair. He started the fair's annual tournament. The Van Winkle Family sponsors the Aulden Van Winkle Traveling Trophy Clock to the tournament's champion. The current trophy holder is Sam Naylor of Carthage, IL.
