This is the "2nd Saturday [Weekend]" monthly photowalk of Lincoln, Nebraska Flickr users. Individuals from all places are welcome, any time.

Meet in the Wyuka parking lot at 2:00 p.m. It will be nice if people can group together in vehicles or ride bicycles, so we have less potential for background vehicle clutter in our photos.

We will explore the Cemetery & Park for about two hours, then wrap up with a meal at DaVinci's (44th & O Streets).

PLEASE NOTE: It is standard "rule" that photos from cemeteries may not be used for commercial purposes or profit without consent from the headstone artist AND family of the deceased. Thankfully, per the Flickr Community Guidelines, Flickr is for personal use only. Please limit ALL your posting of this walk's photos to personal use.

One article suggested that from a legal standpoint:
a) A gravestone is a work of art and therefore copywritten
b) A cemetery plot is bought and paid for and therefore technically considered private property
c) photographers taking photos for personal enjoyment or artistic or historical purposes should be fine as long as you do not intend to profit financially from the use of headstone images

The festival is organized and produced by volunteer members of the Fort Greene Park Conservancy, a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to the restoration and upkeep of historic Fort Greene Park. The event is sponsored and supported by local businesses, organizations and individuals.

Fort Greene Park is located in Brooklyn, New York, on a hill overlooking Wallabout Bay and downtown Brooklyn. Bounded by DeKalb Avenue, Washington Park, Myrtle Avenue, and St. Edwards Street, the historic park is home to tennis courts and playgrounds, and is host to events such as concerts, poetry readings, and other civic gatherings. The thirty-acre park is both a popular neighborhood location and a place of national importance. Fort Greene Park is the site of a Revolutionary War fort and the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument, the Stamford White-designed column dedicated in 1908 as a memorial to the 11,000 prisoners of war who perished on British Prison Ships in Wallabout Bay during the American Revolution. 2008 marks the Centennial of the dedication of the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument, and a grand re-dedication celebration is planned for the weekend of November 15, 2008.
