    <description><![CDATA[Building a Silicon Valley Business: A Case Study of Learning Lessons for Entrepreneurs <br /><br />
SDForum, in collaboration with Nixon Peabody and Frank Rimerman are delighted to announce the launch of a unique and innovative breakfast series: Building a Tech Business in Silicon Valley: A Case Study. The Series is NOT a &quot;talking heads&quot; panel program.   Instead, the important lessons learned are communicated through discussions centering around detailed case descriptions.   Audience members put themselves in the shoes of the company&#39;s principals as they suffer and succeed through the rollercoaster life of a startup.  The Series will take place across five sessions from Fall &#39;08 to Spring &#39;09 and will trace the lifecycle of a fictitious Silicon Valley technology company.<br /><br />
Each session will be kicked off  by a panel of experts and then  participants will discuss and debate what the founders should do, provide helpful insights and materials for the entrepreneurial attendees as they build and grow their own companies.  The experts include seasoned entrepreneurs and CEO&#39;s, service providers, investors and executives with pertinent experience and insights. There will be a dedicated wiki to communicate with  attendees, including disseminating background material prior to the sessions, session materials, news and other related pieces or posts, and speaker and sponsor information.<br /><br />

    <description><![CDATA[Build career-long relationships in an intense environment. Start 2009 with new knowledge and zest.<br /><br />
The real Renaissance Weekend is an invitation-only event that attracts the Clintons and other famous people and costs thousands. The Chalk Institute Renaissance Weekend costs about $100 ($30 tuition, $25 book, ~$45 for snacks and lunches). The main criterion for admission is a commitment to attend and actively participate for the full 30 hours. The deadline for applying is December 8 but the program is already 50% full; apply quickly. <br /><br />
This is our second Renaissance Weekend; it is also a Study Group for The Portable MBA from the prestigious Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Bringing a copy of the fourth edition to the weekend is required. This is our third PMBA study group and the first time we have combined it with the Renaissance Weekend.<br /><br />
Employers ask for an MBA because of the knowledge gained and the character built in the high-pressure boot-camp atmosphere. This program provides an overview of business knowledge, a story for resumes and job interviews and a powerful local network. We will even throw in some bootcamp with a hike, running/walking at the track, and stretching! Graduates become members of the growing Expanded Careers networking group. This group is also a refresher for those who earned an MBA in the past. The textbook was updated in the new millennium.<br /><br />
