Oct 10, 2008: The Notwist at Lee's Palace

The Notwist first began as a hardcore punk band in Germany in the early '90's, gradually moving into a fusion of classic '80's indie-pop songwriting and electronic. The quartet is comprised of brothers Markus Acher (vocals/guitar) and Micha Acher (bass) plus programmer/keyboard player Martin Gretschmann and drummer Martin Messerschmidt.
Known for their movement from post-punk/hardcore into a late 80's, early 90's indie sound, draped with the mellow electronics of Stereolab, The Notwist perform at the Commodore with special guests.

Oct 7, 2008: Wire at Lee's Palace

Since their formation in London in 1976, the four members of Wire have maintained and advanced a musical project which treats the creative potential of a rock band as a fluid, amorphous medium. As removed from self-conscious intellectualism as they are from the inherent conservatism of much rock music, Wire employ their unique, endlessly restless and risk-taking creativity to question every aspect of songwriting, recording and performance.

Oct 3, 2008: The Wedding Present at Lee's Palace

Not bad for a band who have stubbornly refused to play the record industry's game since their inception.
The pioneering spirit has been at the core of the band's philosophy ever since. From GEORGE BEST "an unmitigated delight" [NME] the first full length release, the band have charted an appealing, if often eccentric course of their very own.

Sep 24, 2008: Baroness at Lee's Palace

Baroness plays an eclectic brand of heavy metal, embracing the ferocity and sharp technique of new-millennium metal but with melodic accents and intelligent guitar work that suggests the influence of indie rock and post-punk bands. The four members of Baroness -- John Baizley on guitar and vocals, Brian Blickle on guitar, Summer Welch on bass, and Allen Blickle on drums -- are all originally from Lexington, VA, but they pulled up stakes and relocated to Savannah, GA, when they formed the band in mid-2003.

Sep 11, 2008: GBH at Lee's Palace

Unknown to the band at the time the name was chosen, GBH is derived from the British legal phrase, Grievous bodily harm. Another band was using the name, so they added Charged onto GBH. It began with Colin (Col) Abrahall on vocals, Colin (Jock) Blyth on guitar, Ross Lomas on bass, as well as their first drummer Andrew Williams. The band mostly toured in England during the 1980s, however they did make several excursions out of the island, including several tours to the United States. Some of their most famous shows that they played during the 1980s were at the 100 Club in Oxford Street in London. They are considered by many to be pioneers in the UK punk rock genre, specifically in hardcore.
