About Me

Nick Shattell is not an Airplane. not an Airplane was designed to continually capture the creative mind of Singer/Songwriter Nick Shattell. As musicians may come and go Shattell's songwriting style continues to shape itself around his unique voice and his constant search for new ways to express himself lyrically and musically.

Over the past 3 years, Shattell has performed his originals at hundreds of gigs in all sorts of different venues. He has performed with many musicians whether as friends and/or bandmates but is best known for his solo acoustic performances that capture audience members eyes and ears. His acoustic guitar driven energy and personal but relatable lyrical content make every show an intimate conversation between himself and the listeners. His understanding of being a listener of music himself helps him find ways to connect to listeners of is own songs.

In the studio Shattell has the opportunity to really let out his creative side and tap into as many resources as he can. With the help of a couple of great musicians (see Album Credits in the blog above), He is able to develop each song musically as well as lyrically. It is through his albums that he is able to develop different elements of his artistic mindset. No two moments are alike, but as a whole it encompasses Shattell's unique and innovative style.

Live, Shattell continues to perform solo acoustic and grow as an artist and performer. As he explores new styles and resources he maintains his love for music and it shines through in his high energy performances. His delivery manages to fill the room with the mood of each song.

not an Airplane is a very diverse musical experience. It is always in motion, and is really about capturing the moment of each song, and each performance. The album is a timepiece that captures each songs mood as it was created in that time, whereas each live performance is shaped by every individual audience and overall atmosphere. You can find out everything you need to know just by opening your ears and listening.
