A single person with a single vision married to inexpensive, lightweight technology. Once this meant a writer and a pencil, a painter with a brush and canvas. Now it means a single shooter with a video camera and laptop computer.
This is what I do: an entirely new paradigm for independent television and video production for an entirely new world of video content and demand: broadcast, cable, broadband, wireless, cellphone and beyond.
As a self contained jack of all trades and master of them all, what I do fulfills all aspects from shooting with small format HDV cameras, shooting and reporting all projects and stories, and editing on a laptop in the field or on a full editing suite back at the office.
There are no additional cameramen, soundmen or producers, no on air talent.
In addition, I’m a regional award winning photojournalist who has been a visual content creator since 15 years of age.
Past Accomplishments & Awards for my photojournalistic work:
* 1992 – 1 of 99 out of 847 applicants accepted to the Eddie Adams Workshop attending as a member of the “Green Team”. While there, I was 1 of 15 special merit award winners for my work. This award resulted in the publication of a photodocumentary project I had shot over the course of 18 months.
* 1993 – Society of Professional Journalists (Willamette Valley Chapter) – 1st place Photo Page, Third place each for Feature Photos and Sports Photography
* 1994 – Society of Professional Journalists (Willamette Valley Chapter): 2nd place – Best feature photo.
In my past still work, I specialized in photo documentary and slice of life stories. Since discovering the new paradigm of self contained video production, I now focus my energies in the Solo VJ paradigm with an emphasis on people-based stories, arts, travel and documentary work.
