Description:
A little history: Using funds from the 1978 bond issue, Broward County acquired this 431.4-acre property in the early '80s from Houdaille Inc., a major dredge-and-fill contractor that used the site essentially as a "borrow pit." The proposed name of Lakeview Park was abandoned in favor of Quiet Waters by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. The park officially opened to the public in March 1983. A substantial upgrade was developed and in 1984, Splash Adventure, an interactive children's water playground, was opened in the southeast corner of the park.
Quiet Waters Park is also home to the Renaissance Festival, one of South Florida's most popular festivals. (Held March 2008)
