Since its organization in the early 1990s, the Byron Museum of History strives to preserve Byron’s rich local and area history, which includes the Rock River, railroads, Albert Spalding, the Underground Railroad, Civil War veterans, the Beekmanite religious group and much more.The Byron Museum of History and Lucius Read House are located in central Byron at the intersection of Illinois Routes 2 and 72. Our new entrance is located at 110 N. Union Street, across the street from Union Street Station and next door to the American Legion Hall.
