Description:
This 435-acre park, originally a part of the Voice of America - Bethany Relay Station, was conveyed to MetroParks in 2000 through the Federal Lands-to-Parks Program. The park was dedicated in October, 2004 to honor the memory of the nation’s 40th President and features a stocked 35-acre lake circled by a 1.4-mile paved multipurpose path. A 65-foot-high sledding hill, created from the spoils of the lake excavation, draws visitors during winter snowfalls. Much of the park’s acreage remains as grassland, leading to the site’s designation in 2005 as an “Important Birding Area” by Audubon Ohio. The Ronald Reagan Lodge and Boathouse include a reception hall, meeting room, and retail facility. The retail area provides fishing permits, boat rentals, bait, tackle, etc.
