The Growing Youth Project emerged from a youth-led community food assessment of Alameda Point in 2005. Today, GYP operates a farm and community garden, providing meaningful employment for resident youth at Alameda Point Collaborative. The youth are learning to grow their own food on the GYP Farm, teach formerly homeless residents about cooking and nutrition, and deliver fresh produce to residents.
