Description:
The Veloway is southwest Austin's first trail exclusively for bicycles and rollerblading. Located on more than 100 acres in the Slaughter Creek Metropolitan Park, the Veloway is a 3.17 mile paved asphalt loop 23 feet wide. It is totally secluded from any other roads or motorized traffic. Riders ride in a one-way clockwise direction and helmets are highly recommended.
The trail is open daily from dawn to dusk, except on Sunday March 5th , 10am-6pm, Saturday April 1st, 9am-6pm, Sunday April 9th, 12noon-6pm, Friday June 9th, 7am-12noon, when the veloway will be closed to the public for approved special events.
In addition, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center has several large events that may cause a problem with parking for Veloway users. The event dates are: March 18th and 19th, 9am-6pm, Artisan Festival; April 7th-9th, 9am-6pm, Spring Plant Sale; May 5th, 5pm-11pm, Gala; May 13th, 9am-6pm, Garden Tour.
The trail can be accessed from Mopac, south of Slaughter Lane.
