SomArts' mission is to operate the South of Market Cultural Center for the San Francisco Art Commission and provides city-wide art services to SF Neighborhood Agencies and Individuals.
SomArts' gallery showcases the work of emerging and professionally established multicultural artists. The gallery presents a variety of works in many disciplines from a panoply of cultural heritage and backgrounds. As well as presenting 13 shows, SomArts Gallery participates in special events such as hosting visiting artists and panel discussions.
SomArts' theater produces performance events of San Francisco-based theater artists. Many shows receive wide publicity and critical acclaim. The Theater assists artists by offering space for presentation, rehearsal and classes. The Theater space is equipped with flexible seating, and lighting system, and is used for community meetings and cultural events, as well as theatrical productions.
