Untere Donaulaende 7
Linz, Oberösterreich
Austria
Description:
A concert hall for Linz was already in discussion during the interwar period, and every time the subject of names came up, the great Upper Austrian naturally mentioned. After the war, a group of leading figures in Linz (Fritz Rauch, Gerhard Schröder, Horst Stadlmayr, Hermann Kronsteiner) renewed endeavors for a Brucknerhaus. However, it was not until 1974 that it was finally possible to open the Brucknerhaus. The only decision that remained fixed throughout the entire period of preparations was the name "Bruckner." His work also basically determined the programming of the International Bruckner Festival starting in 1974.
