Description:
The Engine Room, located at 430 Parkdale Avenue between Wellington and Gladstone, is the West End Arts & Theatre scene's newest creative destination. The Engine Room is home to internationally renowned stone sculptors Ingo Hessell (http://www.ingohessel.com/) and Mark Vidalin (http://www.vidalin.ca/), visual artist Yvonne Weigers (http://artengine.ca/wiegers/index.html), as well as the new location of Pukka Gallery (http://www.pukkagallery.ca/) and the Podco podcasting company.

430 Parkdale Avenue is the historic site of the pre-war Hiberia Dance Hall and Village of Hintonburg Town Hall. More recently, it was home to Berrigan's Automotive Repair Garage (1953-2006). Neighbouring the site is Ottawa’s Heritage Fire Station No. 11.

The Engine Room denotes "creative energy" and "maintaining creative momentum". The term is inspired by the section of sports venues in Trinidad & Tobago where fans use an array of percussion instruments to create music. This section of the stadium becomes known as The Engine Room.
