Description:
The Alton Maltings Centre is a grade 2 listed building once used in the beer-making process. It was built in around 1850 and ceased to be used as a maltings in about 1970, when it was converted to warehouse and office use. It finally became derelict in the early 1990s and was purchased in 1997 with a view to being converted into a centre for community and church use.
A £3.5 million pound renovation project began in January 2004 and was finally completed in October 2005, when Alton Maltings Centre was formally opened to the public.
AMC is home to Harvest Church, Cafe Rafters and The Maltings Bookshop. It is available for hire by local businesses and the community.
