Eddie's Attic has become a popular proving ground for aspiring artists and accomplished musicians alike. A superior sound system and excellent acoustics made the Attic an instant hit with music enthusiasts. Heralded for the music room's listening policy, the Attic draws both fans and artists from all over the world and continues to be the premier acoustic music venue in the South. On any given night, music lovers can hear performing songwriters playing their own particular brand of music in an intimate setting. The Attic welcomes all kinds of original, live music and embraces the diversity that allows independent music to thrive.

Once the lingerie department of a Belk department store, original Attic owner Eddie Owen dreamed of opening an acoustic music club that focused on the independent folk artist. He envisioned an inviting place up the stairs where the Decatur community could gather to drink a beer and hear live music. In1992, that dream became a reality.

In March 2002, Eddie made the difficult decision to pass on the ownership of the Attic. Inspired by Eddie's Attic, Todd Van Sickle and his wife Jennifer Nettles (who happened to be a regular Attic performer) were already building dreams of their own for a place that, like the Attic, was dedicated to the performing songwriter but offered an eclectic mix of live music. Good timing coupled with a stroke of luck allowed Eddie and Todd merge their dreams. And so, under the ownership of Todd Van Sickle, the Attic lives on, continuing to support live acoustic music and giving Decatur, Ga., a great place for people to relax and feel part of a community.
