With The Room Upstairs, two heads have proven to be even more formidable. Aristotle Peralta joins his wife Pinky, a topnotch interior designer, in reaching out to an even larger audience. The concept of design- retail -coffee provides a tableaux for both Pinky's collections and Ari’s recipes. Together they reinvent what is classic, thus the vintage chic style. The store opened last October at The LRI building, known to be a designer’s haven and already has a following of customers looking for something new and inspiring. Now , it has also found a niche for coffee lovers who long for a stylish environment to go with their cup. The food at The Room Upstairs, just like the interior, is a reflection of the couple’s taste -- eclectic but homey.
The vision of The Room Upstairs, is to create a hub where people seek a balance of good food and good sense of style. Where else can you find a home boutique where you can have the whim of experiencing each precious piece while sipping your favorite coffee. It’s like being in the comforts of your very home. Only better!
"It’s a coffee shop that sells more than just cakes and your favorite brew; a furniture store that surprisingly allows you to slump onto a P50,000-designer lounge chair; and a cozy meeting place that turns into a jazz music venue at night. The entrepreneur couple Ari and Pinky Peralta doesn’t exactly know how to call their new “baby,” but they’re happy to have introduced a concept store that, according to them, is long needed in the country’s lifestyle scene." - Terrie B. "We found ourselves along Reposo (renamed N. Garcia) in search of tiles, lighting fixtures, and that one chair that will add character to my small living room. I've been to most of the home depots around the metro, and diligently kept my little black book of furnishings and suppliers.
LRI Business Plaza (across Alliance Française de Manille, a place where I took French classes many moons ago) is home to various furniture stores, designers, and art galleries. There are still a lot of empty spaces, but there are enough retailers to pick up things from. I particularly liked the items from Origins and The Room Upstairs, where we stopped for cold coffee and antipasto - a crostini plate with a paté dip (and something else)." -

"On the other hand, there are furniture shops that have evolved in a certain way to attract not only homeowners but a variety of people who may not even have thoughts of selecting furniture on their minds. The Room Upstairs, which opened last week, is a place like that. It is a furniture store-cum-coffeeshop located at N. Garcia St. in Makati City. The place is a perfect example of how a furniture store can feel "homey" with the presence of a coffeeshop. Thus, passersby are invited not only to have a cup of coffee but to sit down, relax and appreciate the fine furniture around." - Johannes L. Chua,
