Live music in North Beach got a second wind in 2001 when both the venerable Grant & Green (with its new look) and neighboring Lost and Found Saloon reopened at Grant Avenue and Green Street. Janis Joplin and Credence Clearwater Revival launched their careers from the Lost and Found. It was a San Francisco folk scene institution in the 1960s as the Coffee Gallery. The Grant & Green was a favorite spot for local acts like the Johnny Nitro Band and Syklopps.
