Organised by the graduating students of the SIM-RMIT Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) programme, “I have designs on you” is a series of events - consisting of a themed exhibition, talks and workshops - that champion local design while raising design awareness here in Singapore.
The event showcase a diversity of design disciplines, ranging from product design, illustration, interactive media and many more. 4 topics of focus are:
1) Logic versus Emotion
This series of exhibits explores the conflict between rational thought and emotional impulse within each and every one of us. Find out how design can affect the way we love or maintain our relationships and how clinical depression can be alleviated.
2) Nature / Nurture
This series of exhibits explores the inter-relationship between our inherent character traits and the environmental conditions that mould it. Learn about the history and local industry of mark making and take a stroll down a lane of perplex looking road signs to see how colour affects the way we see things.
3) Design Development
This exhibit allows you to travel back in time to explore the milestones of local newspaper; how it has evolved in its presentation and content, while utilizing special lighting effects in collaboration with Oracle Projects International.
4) Sustainability
This series of exhibits explores not only environmental sustainability, but also how our population can be sustained through innovative methods such as a handbook on promoting birthrates.
Guest of honour Dr. Milton Tan, Executive Director, DesignSingapore Council, will be gracing the event on its opening.
