The main objectives of the Society as stated in the Articles of Association include the following:
Creating strong co-operative relationship and ties among members.
Raising the professional standard of the members as well as developing their cognitive efficiency.
Defending members' material and moral rights.
Making endeavors to provide appropriate jobs for the members.
Activating and encouraging the scientific research in order to contribute to the economic development in Kuwait and Arab
World, particularly in the Arabian Gulf States.
Creating co-operation with local organizations, bodies and societies, which can help realize the society's objectives.
Oorganizing economic, cultural and scientific lectures, symposiums and seminars as well as different events and trips with a view to raise the scientific, cultural and professional standard of the members as well widening their outlooks.
Publishing scientific, economic and cultural researchers and reports in various means of publication including publishing of
cultural, scientific and economic magazines.
Convening economic conferences relating to the society's objectives as well as participating in such conferences held in
Kuwait or abroad.
Joining the Arab Economists Foundation. The Society may also join any other professional association having similar
objectives.
Creating co-operation with international and word organizations, bodies, societies and associations, that can help achieve the society's objectives.
The Kuwait Economic Society was promulgated as a public welfare society pursuant
to the order issued by the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour published in Official
Gazette "Al-Kuwait Al-Yawm" issue No. (778) dated 24/5/1970 in accordance
with the provisions of the Law No. (5) concerning "Public Societies and Clubs"
The society shall be managed by a higher board, namely a board of directors consisting of ten directors to be elected by the ordinary general assembly. Administrative positions shall be designated by the directors ( chairman, deputy chairman, secretary general and treasurer ). It should be noted that the directors shall work out the general policy of the society's activity, and endorse expenditure and revenue items in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Articles of Association. The income sources of Kuwait Economic society mainly come from the subsidies given by the
Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour annually, association fees and annual subscription of the
members as well as from the donations and contributions made by a limited number of the
leading institutions and companies operating in Kuwait. Such revenues cover part of the expenses
incured on the cultural and social activities undertaken by the society in respect of the conferences
and symposiums.
Since the beginning of its activity in 1970, the Kuwait Economic Society has concentrated on the cultural issues such as convening conferences, symposiums and lectures that discuss the issues of the national economy, economics of GCC states or other Arab or international issues.
A) A semi-annual scientific magazine, whose first issue was published in the spring 1996. It has so for published eleven issues.

The total number of the Kuwait Economic society members have reached 272 at the end of the
fiscal year 99/2000 dated 31/8/2000 . The members who joined the society after liberation
( their number 112 members ) constitute about 41.2% of the total number of the members.
As for the active members ( Kuwaitis ). Their number has reached 255 I.E. 93.8% of the total
number of the members, while the associate members ( non-Kuwaitis ) have reached 17 i.e 6.2%.
