Located on the northeast corner of Hayes and Laguna, in San Francisco's Hayes Valley neighborhood, the Hayes Valley Market is a brand-new, transitory and experimental art space/gallery that will be operating for about one year before the building it resides in gets demolished to make way for senior housing. The Hayes Valley Market offers artwork at affordable prices, and will feature primarily local artists' work. Thanks to the generosity of the building's owners, the HVM will only be taking a very small percentage of the artists' sales, in an effort to support and encourage Bay Area artists.
The gallery's huge dimensions (approx. 6,000 sq. feet), as well as the quirky architectural features of the one-time grocery store (including a conveyor belt, meat locker, and several dimly lit storage and machine rooms) allow for some truly exciting artistic potential! Because it is not affiliated with any institutions and doesn't have a budget, the HVM is completely dependent on volunteer help and donations, and we can always use more of both! If you are an artist, or have ideas for the gallery, or would simply like to get involved, please email Albert or Lisa at
