The first structure specifically built for and owned by the city, City Hall was erected as part of the 1903 Group Plan ensemlbe of public buildings designed by Daniel Burnham during the City Beautiful movement. Designed by J. Milton Dyer, City Hall is placed in symmetry with the county courthouse at the north end of the Mall and features the gracious interior spaces characteristic of the Beaux-Arts style.
